Welcome to Southern Highlands Wine!
SouthernHighlandsWine.com is a site dedicated to exploring and enjoying the wines and wineries of the NSW Southern Highlands in Australia. Here you will find articles on the local wineries, the Southern Highlands Wine Trail, Southern Highlands Winery Tours, and much more.
Southern Highland Wines are generally known as Cool Climate Wines, due to the frosty winters and mild summers of the region. This climate produces lush, full flavoured wines that can be enjoyed all year round.
There are over 50 wineries in the Southern Highlands and about 20 of them have cellar doors open to the public for wine tasting and direct sales. These cellar doors make up the Southern Highlands Wine Trail.
The Southern Highlands of NSW is a little over one hour’s drive from the Sydney CBD, and is also very accessible by train. It is a small region so these wineries are all quite close to each other, making it a perfect day trip or weekend destination for Sydneysiders.
Please let me know where I can obtain a map of the wine
trail that shows the name of the wineries.
Thank you
Hi Rhonda
If you click on this link (it is also just below the wine trail map on the web site): http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=116680404949438395333.00045c6488f8dfc203314&ll=-34.491561,150.382233&spn=0.332206,0.659866&z=11
you will see a more comprehensive map of the Southern Highlands Wine Trail. Clicking on on a winery name or marker shows you the winery address, cellar door opening hours, and their GSP coordinates.
You can also download a map from http://www.southernhighlands.net.au/index.pl?page=6 but it may be a little out of date.
And if you are driving in to Mittagong from the north, the Tourist Information Centre on the left has various maps of the region available.
Cheers,
Charles
Charles,
to your knowledge are the wineries of the Southern Highlands represented by one body.
In the Shoalhaven they have the Shoalhaven Coast Wine Industry Association Inc.
Does the Southern Highlands have anything similar?
regards
James
Hi James,
The local wineries are generally represented by the Southern Highlands Food & Wine Association – http://www.southernhighlands.net.au – who are now expanding their promotion of the Highlands as a wine region.

Charles
